![]() ![]() For sixteen years, Selestra has been trapped in her tower on the Floating Mountain, preparing to take her mother’s place as the King’s Witch, who foretells deaths in the Festival of Predictions. ![]() ![]() Have you read it yet? What did you think? I’d love to hear your thoughts, let me know in the comments.Return to the world of TikTok sensation, TO KILL A KINGDOM for a dark and romantic fantasy adventure! In this Rapunzel-inspired fantasy, a young witch, groomed to steal souls for an immortal king, meets the reckless, rebellious boy to whom her fate is tied. To Kill A Kingdom is a stand-alone novel, though I think there are some short stories set in the same world which I’m so excited for! I honestly can’t recommend this enough, it’s a must read for any fantasy/book lover out there. She’s witty, sarcastic and badass! Elian is a fascinating character, I love how he doesn’t fall into the arrogant, swaggering prince trope. ![]() I enjoyed watching her grow as a person, gain her independence and stand up to those around her. I adored the character development, especially with Lira. The world building is incredible, the many kingdoms featured are stunningly vivid. From the story to Alexandra’s writing style, which is absolutely stunning. When he pulls a lone woman out of the sea his life takes a strange and dangerous turn. Elian won’t stop until he has wiped them out, including The Prince’s Bane, the most lethal of them all. Prince Elian feels more at home on the sea, dedicating his life to ridding the world of the monstrous sirens and making the seas safer to cross. After disobeying her mother, Lira is forced to live among humans until she can take Prince Elian’s heart without using her siren powers in order to prove to her mother that she is worthy of the throne. Each year on her birthday Lira journeys to other kingdoms to rip the heart out of a prince and claim its power. Lira is siren royalty, daughter of the infamous Sea Witch and their to a kingdom where murder is a mandatory way of life. Trust me, To Kill a Kingdom will enchant and captivate you from the start. I’ve always been fascinated by sirens so you can imagine my excitement when I heard about this, it’s a loose and twisted retelling of The Little Mermaid but with sirens (mermaids are very different in this book). To Kill A Kingdom is the stunning debut from Alexandra Christo. I received a copy from Hot Key Books in exchange for an an honest review. She promises to help him find the key to destroying all of sirenkind for good-But can he trust her? And just how many deals will Elian have to barter to eliminate mankind’s greatest enemy? When he rescues a drowning woman in the ocean, she’s more than what she appears. Hunting sirens is more than an unsavory hobby-it’s his calling. The ocean is the only place Prince Elian calls home, even though he is heir to the most powerful kingdom in the world. Robbed of her song, Lira has until the winter solstice to deliver Prince Elian’s heart to the Sea Queen or remain a human forever. To punish her daughter, the Sea Queen transforms Lira into the one thing they loathe most-a human. Until a twist of fate forces her to kill one of her own. With the hearts of seventeen princes in her collection, she is revered across the sea. Princess Lira is siren royalty and the most lethal of them all. ![]()
